Samsung is apparently aiming to release a more affordable Galaxy Z Flip FE next year. The company could announce the new variant alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7, scheduled for 2025.
Samsung hopes to bring the foldable phone experience to a more modest price point in response to industry competition. It will join Motorola and Nubia in making a lower-cost Flip foldable.
There could be a cheaper Galaxy Z Flip FE model next year
Samsung is reportedly working on a more affordable version of its Galaxy Z Flip, potentially called the Galaxy Z Flip FE, to launch in 2024.
According to a leak from Korean blogger yeux1122 (via Android Authority), this lower-cost foldable might debut alongside the next high-end model, possibly the Galaxy Z Flip 7, indicating a simultaneous release.
Though details on the device’s name and specifications are sparse, this move suggests that Samsung wants to make foldable devices more accessible.
Further fueling speculation, a Samsung executive hinted on social media that the company is exploring ways to lower entry barriers to foldable technology so more consumers can experience it.
This aligns with Samsung’s broader strategy, as the executive mentioned “preparing new form factors,” which might refer to Samsung’s rumored tri-fold device.
Samsung’s push to offer more affordable foldable phones is a response to competition from brands like Motorola and Nubia, which already offer lower-cost flip-style foldable phones.
Given that Samsung’s Fan Edition (FE) models aim to provide a premium experience at a reduced price, the Galaxy Z Flip FE will likely follow a similar pattern.
Although there is no information on the Galaxy Z Flip FE’s specs or design, industry observers expect modest downgrades from the flagship Z Flip.
As Samsung positions itself to make its foldables more mainstream, more information on this anticipated device will likely emerge in the coming months.
