Apple just officially announced the date of its special annual event, the WWDC25, where it introduces the next round of its operating systems.

This year’s WWDC, or Worldwide Developers Conference event, kicks off on June 9 with the keynote and will go on until June 13 at Apple Park in California.

Here’s what Apple said in the press release announcing WWDC25…

We’re excited to mark another incredible year of WWDC with our global developer community,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “We can’t wait to share the latest tools and technologies that will empower developers and help them continue to innovate.

The format for WWDC25 appears to be the same as in the past several years.

The event used to be held at San Jose McEnery Center in San Jose, but Apple switched to online during the pandemic and eventually converted to a hybrid event.

Apple said the event will be completely online and free for developers. However, there will be an in-person special event at Apple Park on June 9.

Space for that in-person event is limited; only developers, select students, and media personalities will get to attend the event. The details on how to apply to attend the event are available on the WWDC25 website.

What to expect at WWDC25?

At this point, it’s just speculation, but Apple usually unveils the next-gen iteration of its operating systems at its annual developer conference, which includes the following,

  • iOS 19
  • iPadOS 19
  • visionOS 3
  • tvOS 19
  • macOS 16
  • watchOS 12

Several sources have claimed that iOS 19 will feature a new design. Bloomberg even claimed it would be the biggest revamp since 2013’s iOS 7.

The design will be inspired by visionOS, Apple’s software platform for its Vision Pro headset.

The new design will reportedly include translucent buttons and menus with a glass-like appearance.

The iPadOS 19 and macOS 16 are also expected to feature the same design language, making Apple’s software platforms look more uniform.

As for hardware, Apple rarely announces new hardware at its annual developer conference.

The most recent expectations were the announcement of Apple Vision Pro, M2 chip, and Mac devices in 2023.

In 2025, Apple announced the new iPad Air, MacBook Air, and Mac Studio models, and let’s not forget the new iPhone 16e.

These could be joined by a refreshed Mac Pro and the second-generation AirTags, which are both planned for the middle of the year, but Apple could just unveil them at the event, showcase the new features, and hype them up more.

However, this is all just speculation. We are not sure what Apple really plans to announce at WWDC25, but the silver lining is that we now have a confirmed date, which we can stick to our calendar while waiting to find out what Apple’s cooking.
