Despite pushing back Apple Intelligence by a month, Apple is reportedly on track to launch the new iPhone, the iPhone 16 series, within a few weeks.

We have already heard plenty about Apple’s upcoming new handsets, courtesy of numerous leaks and rumors, such as the design change and the AI features. However, the iPhone 16 camera details were pretty scarce, but not anymore.

The folks over at Apple Insider have revealed new camera information for the entire iPhone 16 lineup. The report also confirms a few additional details, like all the models are getting the Capture Button, the vertical camera setup on the regular iPhone 16 models, a new tetraprism zoom lens for the smaller Pro model, and a new 48MP ultra-wide lens for both Pro models.

iPhone 16 and 16 Plus: The standard and the Plus iPhone 16 models are keeping the same 48MP primary camera with an f/1.6 aperture as the iPhone 15. Meanwhile, the secondary camera will get its aperture bumped from f/2.4 to f/2.2. In addition, the rumor hints that all the models will get macro capability for the first time.

iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max: Both Pro models keep the same 48Mp primary camera with an f/1.78 aperture. Aside from the tetraprism zoom, the smaller Pro model is expected to sport the same  12MP shooter with f/2.8 aperture.

Meanwhile, both Pro models will get a 48MP ultra-wide lens with pixel-binning capabilities, allowing users to take 48MP ProRaw images.

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max video capabilities: The report claims that the iPhone 16 Pro models will be able to shoot in 3K at 120FPS in Dolby Vision. Both handsets will also support 1080p recording at 120 or 240FPS. 4K recording is also possible only at 60FPS.

A new image format: In addition to the current image formats supported by the iPhone, such as HEIF, JPEG, HEIF Max, ProRaw, and ProRAW Max, a new image format called JPEG-XL will be introduced with the iPhone 16.

Let’s not for the new information on the Capture Button

Arguably, the new Capture Button is one of the most interesting aspects of the upcoming iPhone 16 models.

The button reportedly opens the camera app, and it doesn’t matter whether the app is a first or third party; users can choose which app the button launches.

Another feature of the Capture Button is that it is capacitive and capable of registering half-press and full-press. Hence, force sensitivity can be customized.

You can also use it as a trackpad, sliding your fingers across the button to perform actions like zooming in or out.

That’s it! As Samsung and Google are done with their flagship releases for the year, all the eyes are on Apple.

After a long wait, today’s leak has shed light on the iPhone 16’s cameras. However, we are still waiting on one key piece of information: the price.

Hopefully, that information will come to light as we inch closer to the launch.
