When it comes to AI, Meta isn’t messing around. In a couple of weeks, Meta is rolling out an AI assistant on its Quest 3 headsets. The feature, which starts today for users 13 and older in the US and Canada, promises to enhance the VR experience with AI-driven capabilities.

According to Meta’s blog, the AI assistant will go beyond the hands-f/ree experience users are accustomed to. It will provide real-time answers to questions about what you’re viewing on your Quest 3.

For example, if you’re exploring a virtual art gallery, you can ask the AI assistant about the artwork in front of you, and it will provide information obtained through Bing.

While the initial rollout is limited to the Quest 3, Meta plans to expand the AI assistant to other Quest headsets next month. This move signals Meta’s ambition to make AI a core part of its VR ecosystem.

The introduction of AI to Meta’s Quest headsets represents an exciting development in VR. By providing users with an intelligent assistant that can offer real-time information and enhance their virtual experiences, Meta is setting a new standard for what we can expect from VR technology.

There are only a few other options out there that I can think of that offers something similar, if not better, but the truth is that they’re extremely expensive and not a lot of people can afford to buy them. I mean, do you have $3,500 to spend on an Apple Vision Pro?

As VR continues to evolve, the integration of AI is likely to play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of this immersive technology. With its latest update, Meta is at the forefront of this trend, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and its vision for the potential of AI-infused VR.
