Apple has long been rumored to develop a HomePod with an LCD touchscreen to shake up the line and attract more customers to its SmartHome products.
While we have already heard a few details and leaked images of this unreleased device, leaker Kosutami is back again on X/Twitter with a new image showcasing a part of the HomePod prototype with a display.
The image shows the top display panel for the upcoming HomePod.
The leaked image corroborates HomePod with a display with a familiar design
The image shared by the leaker Kosutami is an integral part of the new HomePod with a display Apple is developing.
The image shows a large component with curved glass, which looks like the top of the HomePod that covers the entire thing. It matrices the previously leaked HomePod prototype with a curved LCD.
Rumors about Apple developing multiple HomePods with a display prototype have existed for a while, including one resembling the Amazon Echo Show.
However, the leaked image shows part of a less ambitious version with a similar design to the current one and a screen on top that shows quick information about media played in apps such as Apple Music and Apple Podcasts.
Meanwhile, a code found on the tvOS 17.4 corroborated the existence of a different and more advanced HomePod prototype.
Either way, things surrounding the unreleased HomePod with a display are still a bit complicated.
The current second-generation HomePod has a flat touch surface with multiple LEDs to show color combinations.
Hence, a HomePod with a display would be an excellent new addition to Apple’s arsenal. However, a 2024 launch is unlikely, so you may have to wait a long time for it.
