Apple fans, mark your calendars. The successor to the M2 chip, the much-anticipated Apple Silicon M3 is expected to make its grand entrance later this fall.

According to Blooomberg reporter Mark Gurman, shared this scoop in his recent Power On newsletter, The M3 will be unveiled in October 2023. This will coincide with a refresh of several Apple favorites including the iMac, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro.

Interestingly, it seems that the iMac will be the first in line for this upgrade.

Since its last update in 2021, the iMac received a new design and the M1 chip. It only makes sense for it to be prioritized, especially since Apple didn’t upgrade it during the 2022 M2 update.

As per tradition, Apple has planned another launch event for September where they’ll pull back curtains on their next iPhone – the iPhone 15 series.

But wait there’s more: According to Gurman, October will see yet another event – but this one’s all about Macs. With the spotlight firmly on the M3 iMac. Here’s what he had to say:

“Now that Apple has gotten the 15-inch MacBook Air and new M2 Ultra-based Macs out of door; we can expect an October launch featuring first Macs with M3 chips. It might be too soon for new high-end MacBook Pros or desktops so likely beneficiaries are next-gen iMac, 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.”

That said don’t hold your breath waiting for a new MacBook Air just yet; considering they’ve just launched a new variant recently. As far as an upgraded version goes? We’re probably looking at sometime next year.

On similar lines – while there aren’t any hints pointing towards design upgrades for any of these devices, focus seems squarely on upgraded chips.
