While the iPhone 13 was released just a couple of months ago, many Apple fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the iPhone 14. Each year, Apple users anxiously wait to see what changes will come to the newest iPhone model, and each year Apple delivers.

Leaks and other tidbits about the iPhone 14 are already emerging, even though the expected release date will be sometime in September 2022.

Continue reading to learn more about possible functionality updates, what the new smartphone model may look like, and some other gossip surrounding the highly anticipated iPhone 14.

iPhone 14 Design: What to Expect

It’s been a couple of years since the iPhone faced a major design upgrade, as the last few models looked fairly similar and had similar capabilities. As usual, rumor has it the iPhone 14 won’t look entirely different from the 13 or 13 Pro.

One significant difference will be the transition from a standard notch to a new, pill-shaped punch hole on the upper portion of the phone, where the selfie camera is. This type of change won’t affect the functionality of the phone or the camera, but it does change the look of the display.

One concept emerged where the iPhone 14 has an expanded screen that you access by physically sliding the panel out. It is impractical to think that Apple would drastically change their model in this way, though we may see something of the like in the future.

Another rumored design spec is that the chunky bump on the rear-facing camera may be eliminated to make the back of the iPhone flush. Additionally, in past iPhone releases, there were typically major improvements to the quality of the camera. Many people tend to agree that the iPhone 13 has one of the best cameras on the market.

One other design change that Apple fans are hoping for is an under-display Touch ID option. It’s also possible that the iPhone 14 may come in various colors, with some new colors added to the mix.

There’s debate over whether users prefer Face ID to Touch ID, the former of which became prevalent when Apple transitioned. The jury’s still out on which technology is better, but Apple believes that Face ID is faster, more reliable, and more secure. If there’s one thing we can count on, it’s that outdated technology can compromise security.

Overall, there’s not too much specific information about the specs or details for the iPhone 14. It will only be a matter of time until more details are leaked, but it’s always exciting to see what Apple has in store for its customers.

The Death of the iPhone Mini

Apple will likely nix the iPhone Mini model, as it did not perform well during its initial launch.

It may not come as a surprise, considering many smartphone manufacturers caught on to customers’ desire for bigger and better displays — thus, the introduction of the iPhone Max models.

Is the iPhone 14 Worth the Wait?

Because there is such limited information on the iPhone 14, it may be challenging to decide if it’s worth the wait.

If you’re the type of person who likes having the latest technology, then you may be able to stick out the wait. 2022 is just around the corner. However, if you’re in desperate need of a new iPhone, the 13 or 13 Pro are both viable options. It all comes down to your specific needs.

iPhone 14 Expected in 2022

It’ll be almost a year until Apple releases the iPhone 14. However, some of the rumors outlined above may prove to be true — only time will tell. Keep an eye out for the release in September or October 2022.
