While numerous details about the unreleased iPhone 16 series have emerged, revealing design changes, upgrades, and more, today’s leak shed light on an unexpected Apple device—the next-generation iPhone SE or the iPhone SE 4.
According to a post on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, by renowned leaker Ice Universe, Apple is focusing on developing the iPhone SE 4, which is expected to launch in the fall of 2025.
The design of the iPhone SE line has been stuck, resembling the iPhone 8 for years now. However, Ice Universe states a design upgrade is in order for this year, which will reportedly follow the same design language as the iPhone 12 and onwards.
Rumors about the iPhone SE 4

The upcoming iPhone SE 4 will reportedly sport a 6-inch OLED screen, much like the iPhone 15, with a 60Hz refresh rate.
It is rumored that Apple will include the A18 bionic chip in the iPhone 16 series. This chip will ensure that the next iPhone SE can run Apple Intelligence once the company rolls it out of beta.
The device will reportedly have 6 or 8GB of RAM, which is reasonable for an entry-level device.
On top of that, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to sport a 48MP rear camera, which is the first for the iPhone SE line. However, we are unsure whether the handset will feature a single camera, but with a new powerful primary sensor, that would be just fine.
iPhone SE 4 rumored specs at a glance
- Display: 6.06-inch OLED screen with a notch and 60Hz refresh rate
- Chipset: A18
- RAM: Either 6GB or 8GB
- Rear camera: Single 48MP lens
- Biometrics: Face ID
- Port: USB-C
- Price: $499-$549
In addition, we expect Apple to ditch the Lightning port in favor of a USB-C port, and rumor has it that Apple is also dropping Touch ID in favor of Face ID.
Lastly, the upcoming iPhone SE 4 is expected to cost between $499 and $549.
If Apple pursues aggressive pricing and keeps the next iPhone SE under $500, it may even overtake the iPhone 16, as users will flock to purchase this $500 iPhone with intriguing hardware.
