Google fans, get ready. It’s almost time for this year’s Made By Google event, and if you haven’t been following the news, this year’s event is happening earlier than usual.

Google conducts its “Made By Google” or Pixel 9 event—whatever you may want to call it—in early October. But this year, the search engine company pushed up the schedule to August for whatever reason.

At this year’s Made By Google event, the California tech giant will lift the lids on the Google Pixel 9 series handset. The new Android handsets are shedding off the signature Pixel design and adopting a new one.

So, mark your calendars for August 13 – that’s when the magic happens. You can score a front-row seat just by tuning in on Google’s website.

Want the full VIP experience? Hit the “Sign up” button on the Google event page and prepare for news, offers, and updates galore. And don’t stress if you miss the live stream – it’ll be waiting for you on-demand afterward.

What to expect at the Google Pixel 9 event

The biggest change is coming in the form of the Google Pixel 9 series. The number of handsets in the series has increased from two to four.

Instead of the usual vanilla and a Pro variant, the Google Pixel 9 series consists of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold– yes, Google’s second-generation book-style foldable will be part of the Pixel 9 series.

Let’s start the list with the vanilla Pixel 9, which will sport the same Google Tensor G4 CPU, a 50MP primary, and a 48MP ultra-wide sensor as the Pro models.

Compared to the Pro models, the vanilla model will also feature less RAM (12GB), a comparatively lower-resolution front camera, and the basic Actua display.

In addition to the usual Obsidian, Porcelain, and Hazel colors, Google is introducing a new Rose color that looks stunning.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro is basically the newest addition to the Pixel family with a 6.3-inch screen. It is for someone looking to have the Pixel Pro experience without compromising the cameras and display and at a slightly lower price.

Based on the rumors, the Pro Pixel 9 will feature a triple camera array on its back, with the addition of a 48MP telephoto lens. The front camera will also be better than the vanilla Pixel 9, at 42MP.

Otherwise, the handset will be powered by the same Tensor G4 SoC but will likely feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is the direct successor to the Google Pixel 8 Pro. Its new “XL” moniker is due to its larger 6.5-inch screen and bigger battery.

The rest of the specs of the Pixel 9 Pro XL match the standard Pro model.

Pixel 9 Fold

Google is reportedly bundling the Pixel Fold with the Pixel 9 series

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the company’s second-generation book-style foldable, and this time, it will be a part of the Pixel 9 series.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a completely new design. The device is now taller, the bezels are a bit thinner, and the camera island design is completely new.

According to rumors, Google is also using a new and improved hinge, which will likely reduce the crease, but we can’t say for sure.

Google Pixel Watch 3

It will come in two sizes (41mm and 45mm), improved displays, better battery life and more.

Google has started following a yearly cycle for its Android smartwatch, the Google Pixel watch 3 is all set to debut on August 13, alongside the Pixel 9 series.

However, for the first time, the Google Pixel Watch will be available in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm.

Otherwise, it’s the same as the Pixel Watch 2, with the same processor and the same design. The larger model is expected to be thicker with relatively slimmer bezels.

The displays are improving, and besides that, we are expecting UWB support and a better battery life.

Don’t be blown away by this update

Pixel Buds Pro 2

What we expect: Larger charging case, new colors, and hopefully better sound.

Google launched the original Pixel Buds Pro with premium features back in 2022.

While Google doesn’t follow a year cycle for its earbuds, we may get lucky on August 13, when the company may announce the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2.

The Pixel Buds Pro was already excellent, and the second generation, if it arrives, will get a minor refresh with redesigned grills and a larger charging case.

New colors are also coming: Green or Alow and Hot Pink.

What else?

Google typically launches its flagship phones every year with the latest version of Android; this year, it’s Android 15.

However, we suspect that things may be different this year as Google pushed up the launch date. Hence, the Pixel 9 series may launch with Android 14 and will receive the Android 15 update in the coming months, likely as early as September.

Even though Android 15 may not arrive with the Pixel 9 series, we are sure to get a peek at the new operating system and its features at the Made By Google event. We already know about a few impressive security features, like Private Space, Theft Detection Lock, and more.

And given all the AI hype, I wouldn’t be surprised if Google announced Gemini AI features under “Google AI.” In fact, I can almost guarantee it. Guess we’ll find out on August 13, right?

What are your thoughts on the upcoming Google Pixel 9 series and the innovations expected at the Made By Google event? Are you excited about the new designs and features, or do you have specific features you’re hoping to see?
