If you have any plans of upgrading to an iPhone Pro Max this September, prepare to pay more, says one analyst.
But first, let’s compare apples to apples. The iPhone 14 series, launched in September 2022, maintained the same price as its predecessor, the iPhone 13. However, this was only the case in the United States.
At the launch of the iPhone 14, customers in the United States were fortunate to avoid a price hike. In contrast, those in the UK faced a significant increase of £150. Various European markets also experienced a €200 rise in prices.
However, an analyst predicts that this lucky streak for U.S. customers may end with potential pricing changes for the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The possible iPhone 15 Pro Max price hike
Jeff Pu, from Haitong International Tech Research, has announced that the iPhone 15 series is set to go into mass production in August.
This news was reported by 9to5Mac, where Pu suggested that Apple might raise the price of the iPhone 15 Pro Max variant.
The previous model, iPhone 14 Pro Max, debuted at $1,099. However, according to Pu, its successor will carry a heftier price tag.
In terms of features, last year’s iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models were virtually identical apart from their display sizes.
The iPhone 14 Pro boasts a 6.12-inch display, while its larger sibling, the Pro Max, comes with a slightly bigger screen measuring 6.69 inches.
128 GB | 256 GB | 512 GB | 1 TB | |
---|---|---|---|---|
iPhone 14 | $799 | $899 | $1,099 | – |
iPhone 14 Plus | $899 | $999 | $1,199 | – |
iPhone 14 Pro | $999 | $1,099 | $1,299 | $1,499 |
iPhone 14 Pro Max | $1,099 | $1,199 | $1,399 | $1,599 |
But it appears that this trend may change with the upcoming generation – specifically with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Why the cost of your next iPhone 15 could go up
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is set to break the mold by introducing new features exclusive to its variant, setting it apart from the standard Pro model.
One such addition could be a state-of-the-art periscope zoom lens. This cutting-edge feature might be the reason behind the speculated price increase.
But that’s not all. Jeff Pu also hinted at Apple possibly incorporating ‘metalens’ technology into their future devices, starting with iPhone 16. This innovation could streamline the primary sensor and even shrink down Face ID’s sensor size.
Android users take notice
However, this potential price bump isn’t only relevant to Apple enthusiasts. Android users may want to pay attention too.
While Pu didn’t explicitly mention it, Apple’s willingness to raise handset prices could pave the way for Android manufacturers to follow suit and hike up their flagship prices.
